Where to Watch the Game?

On Saturday undefeated USC and that other school across town are going to be playing some football at the Coliseum. I, for the first time in several years, don’t have a student ticket, so I get to rejoin the numbers of those who watch the game on television.

In the past I’ve watched Laker games at the Grand Ave. Sports Bar in the Biltmore and at the Bonaventure Brewing Company. I know there have to be other great places to watch a game Downtown, so I’m opening it up to you guys (and I mean that in the gender-neutral sense). Where Downtown can you find a big screen and a good crowd to watch the game?

The best place downtown to watch a USC football game that is not the Coliseum? Traditions in downstairs commons at the heart of the USC campus of course.

Heh. I’ve never thought about whether Traditions stayed open during the game. I’ve been at USC four and a half years now and I’ve never set foot in there. Not sure why. -e;

It has a great atmosphere at game time, that is unless the game is going bad, then it really quiets down. I remember watching USC when the basketball game when they made elite 8 at Tradys. That was an exciting experiance.

I’m blog commenting like it was AIM.

I look forward to some good suggestions. I’ve always needed a good place downtown to watch the Kings. I’ve always found Grand Avenue to have the wierdest design. All that ugly tile. It is as if the men’s room was extruded throughout the entire bar. Ugh!

One place you might want to investigate before game time is Grand Central Market. I noticed they installed a lot of fancy flat screen TV’s throughout. On the Hill Street side, there might be some decent seating. I know you can buy a beer at the Chinese place on that side. Cetainly plenty of good food to be had.

Then again, I’d like to think every bar in town worth its salt will have the game on.

My favorite place during the working week to watch sports (soccer) in Downtown LA for lunch is the Flower Street Cafe and Sports Bar at 615 S. Flower St. Friends have gone there in the evening for Laker games, and had a great time. I suspect they would also have a good crowd on the weekends for football. Another favorite of mine for watching sports is over at the Palm in the bar area.

Is the Fox Sky Bar a good place? Also, the Weiland Brewery is a cool place to Watch USC games.

I also notice that Casey’s mentions watching USC games on their site. I can’t remember the site of their TV’s, though. Might go drop by and scope that out tonight. -e;
