Get Ready for Visitors

It’s certainly looking to be an interesting weekend Downtown. The papers are all covering Monday’s planned protests, with 500,000 projected to attend. Much less attention is being paid to Fiesta Broadway, which is expected to draw that same number to Broadway on Sunday. Street closure signs were up when I was walking into work this morning, and the Fiesta’s website has a list of the blocks affected.

So back to back 500,000 person events Downtown. I hope Street Services and the BID have their cleaning crews on super-overtime.

Normally I’d say avoid the crowds and take the trains, but, well, if it’s anything like the day of last month’s march they’re going to be swamped.

And don’t forget Monday afternoon a march will go on Wilshire from MacArthur Park to La Brea. Gridlock and bus detours, here we come!

My dry-cleaner on Spring Street was told to make sure he closed on Monday. If he didn’t, he was told his windows would be vandalized. Ah, solidarity.
