A month ago I posted about Royale Jewelry &, the Broadway jewelry shop that just wasn't quite sure what to make of itself. It had shown up as "Royale Jewelry & Pawn Shop" but then quickly dropped the Pawn from the name leaving an odd looking sign.

As of a few days ago the shop is now "Royale Jewelry & Loan" and offers "collateral loans." Isn't that basically the same thing? I keep seeing the terms used interchangably, so I can't come up with what a difference would be.

Collateral loans sounds nicer. Maybe it was felt having a pawn shop undermined the image that the great powers that be want to foster for downtown?

A positive turnaround by virtue of word-play. Perhaps they can also rename Liquor Stores and Bail Bonds as Beverage Emporiums and Institution Consultants.

Great idea ehhh?
