A Step Back from the Skyline

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES —
I’ve extolled the virtues of the City Hall observation level before, but it’s been four months and I feel compelled to do it again. Every time I go to City Hall I make sure to find my way up to the 27th floor and take in the view. It really is remarkable. Tonight the clear skies afforded a decent view of the Griffith Observatory and, as always, a spectacular view of Downtown.
If you’re curious about the technical details of the shot, it was taken with the 18-70 kit lens that comes with the Sony A100. It was taken at f8 with a 15 second exposure. I had the camera attached to a weird little mini-tripod that I strapped to the railing on the deck.
The Griffith Observatory shot was a 30 second exposure at f5.6 using a Minolta 70-210/4.
