Grand Performances moves back to the Watercourt tonight for the first event in a full weekend. Tonight sees Tom Schnabel host an evening of World Music Appreciation. Tomorrow there’s a noon set by Mango Blue and an 8pm show featuring Ojos de Brujo. Finally, Saturday sees an 8pm performance featuring Mandrill.

If you missed it, be sure to check out our photo essay from GP on Grand, the kickoff show with Ozomatli, Yohimbe Brothers and Dengue Fever.

ODB has been one of my favorite acts the past several years… and they were GREAT. Two sets, a 20 minute break, a very solid crowd, lots of dancing and a generally awesome atmosphere - even one woman who decided to take it upon her (apparently well liquored up) self to wade into the water… which prompted a break. ODB was great about that, and the public announcer said his piece and the band came back for a couple more.

There’s a lot of extremely cool music coming up - and this is turning out to be one of the best LA music venues… and hey - guess what… it’s not anywhere near Hollywood!!!
