A Month Until Festival Season

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Last year life Downtown was a good bit busy on October 7th, as both the Grand Avenue Festival and the LA Weekly’s Detour Festival took place simultaneously. This year both events return, but on different weeks. Though you wouldn’t know it by checking out the DCBID’s site – “Info Coming Summer 2007” – the Grand Avenue Festival kicks things off on September 30th, running from 11am to 5pm.
The following Sunday, October 6th, the Detour Fest returns. The just released line-up includes: “Bloc Party, red hot dance act Justice, Satellite Party, Kinky, the Comedians of Comedy, Turbonegro, Teddybears, Moving Units, the Raveonettes, Shout Out Louds and Autolux.” I can say that I’ve heard of Bloc Party and Kinky, but that’s it. I’m pretty out of touch, though.

Yeah - looks like some fun in the streets for a change… Bloc Party is cool, and Kinky is a damn good time - they are a Latin band that mixes funk, electronica, some hip-hop and rock en espanol - they were at the Grand Ave. Festival last year and I thought they were great.
Hope they add some more artist to the line up, I would want to see Justice and S. for Lefty but dont see a really big headliner like last years Beck.
Should be fun anyhow :)
…. ooh p.s. The Faint headlines the Nieghborhood festival at the exposition park grounds.
Kinky plays so often in LA now (and free: 3rd Street Promenade), they’re losing their appeal. Ya no Más!
