Creative Commons Creative Commons is holding its first CC Salon LA tonight in Little Tokyo. If you’re unfamiliar with CC, I think this description from their website is a good intro:

Creative Commons defines the spectrum of possibilities between full copyright — all rights reserved — and the public domain — no rights reserved. Our licenses help you keep your copyright while inviting certain uses of your work — a “some rights reserved” copyright.

All of the content on blogdowntown is licensed with CC’s Attribution / Non-Commercial / Share Alike license, as are the photos that I post up on flickr. Tonight’s event offers a great chance to meet people interested in exploring how works can build on each other, and how giving freedom to your content can benefit everyone.
