Blood Drive: LAPD is holding a blood drive today at Parker Center from 9am to 4pm. The drive’s purpose is to support injured LAPD Officer Tony Salazar, but of course donations will be put to a far wider range of uses.

Marching Time: It’s a bit odd finding out about an SEIU march through the WGA, but such is life during a writers’ strike. The SEIU Security Guards union will be holding a march Downtown from 11am to 1pm and the WGA is asking striking writers to show up in solidarity. From the WGA notice:

UNION SOLIDARITY: The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has been very supportive of our strike. The SEIU Security Officer Local (SOULA Local 2006) is asking WGA members to support them in their fight for justice. Join them on Thursday, Nov. 29th at 11:00 am at 1247 W. 7th Street (7th & Bixel St) in downtown LA. SEIU will bus supporters to downtown LA for a short rally and march ending at 1:00 pm.

We’ve talked before about SEIU’s efforts to unionize guards. The Union put out a notice in October saying that security guards were ready to strike.
