I read the Times story on the view from construction of the new LAPD Headquarters last night and thought it interesting, but the real star of the show is the Flash slideshow called Girders and Steel that puts sights and sounds to the work experience.

This is the sort of coverage that the Times should be cleaning up on, given that the work is taking place directly next door to their offices. Wasn't Steve Lopez supposed to be camped out watching this project night and day for cost overruns?

Camping out at the new LAPD HQ's would get in the way of Mr. Lopez's vying for a Pulitzer.

That was a great little flash photography show & story. The Times should do more of these for some of the other construction going on downtown.
