As I mentioned on Friday, Metro will be coming to a meeting of DLANC's Transportation committee this evening to discuss the Regional Connector. This is an important project for Downtown, both in its potential benefits and in the way it could harm the neighborhood if done poorly. The meeting is at 6:30pm, at the LATC (514 S. Spring).

It is crucial that the majority of the rail connector be underground; does anybody remeber Alameda in the 90's?!

And we can't have an elevated track because I really don't think that would create a good looke to Downtown.

Hence, my vote is for the 100% underground. Costly? Of Course! In fact, it would probably double or even triple the price of the Connector, but it's well worth the price considering the ALREADY traffic-clogged streets of Downtown.

Let's for a minute or two forget that the Redline already exists.

Now, imagine if transit authorities were to suggest that the initial transit line through Downtown be constructed either at-grade or above-grade, along Second Street, or any other street.

Right. Forget about comparative train lengths; just the idea of it.....
