It’s Thursday, July 10th, and the end of the week is a slow one for Council. Council has one meeting and no committees slated for the next two days, so we fill in items Downtowners should take note of with a few outside entries.

THURSDAY: Take a break to go check out the Arts District / Little Tokyo Farmers Market at City Hall. The south lawn site is far from its namesakes, but lines get long during the lunch rush. The market runs from 10am - 2pm.

FRIDAY: Council’s in session with a short agenda. Item 17 moves forward some actions on the LA River Revitalization Master Plan. The specific actions are in the Valley, but anything on the river affects Downtown.

The Board of Public Works is in session, and considering a handful of street closures for filming:

  • Los Angeles from 1st to 2nd on Saturday, July 12th, from 4pm to 6am.
  • 11th from Main to Broadway on Sunday, July 13th, from 11am to 10pm.
  • 4th St from Beaudry to Figueroa on Sunday, July 13th, from 5pm to midnight.

BOTH DAYS: Off the Downtown Art Walk is a gallery directly over Main Street located in the pedestrian connector between City Hall and City Hall East. It’s the last two days for the exhibit “The Los Angeles River” at the City Hall Bridge Gallery. The show features paintings of the river and its historic bridges, and closes Friday. While at City Hall, don’t pass up the check to go check out the view from the observation deck.

PREVIOUS: We mentioned on Sunday that Bringing Back Broadway had announced an Executive Director, CD14 staffer Jessica Wethington McLean. The press release on that is now posted on the CD14 site (PDF). Included is news that CCEA’s Tara Devine is taking Jessica’s previous position with CD14 as Planning & Economic Development Director.
