DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — It’s Monday, August 4th, and the middle of the week sees a busy Council slate. Not many big ticket items for Downtown, but certainly items that deserve attention.
MONDAY: Public Safety and Budget & Finance committees meet, with you no items of particular relevance to Downtown. Board of Public Works hears an oral report on the status of the Police Administration building (LAPD HQ).
TUESDAY: At Council, Item 24 (CF 08-1798) is the car-sharing motion that went to Transportation committee on July 23rd. The pilot program granting on-street parking for car-sharing was designed for Hollywood, but now features only USC and UCLA.
Transportation committee holds a special Tuesday meeting, and Item 10 is the late night DASH motion we wrote about on July 17th. The motion would look at ways to extend DASH hours, initially on Friday night.
Information Technology and General Services committee is set to hear a report on negotiations for the Mangrove site, at 1st and Alameda (CF 07-0891).
WEDNESDAY:In Council, CDs 9 and 14 will make recommendations to explore parking for Broadway Theater District by extending the Pershing Square garage flat rate to 4 a.m.
Worth noting is the Los Angeles Police Commission Police Permit Review board that is ready to listen to a recommendation by the Commission Investigation Division to deny an one-night permit for Project Sweatshop. Filed as a “Public Dance”, the location would have been 590 South Santa Fe Avenue.
