DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Those who don’t work or are able to take a five hour lunch are invited to attend an “Interactive Planning Workshop on the Broadway Streetcar” this Thursday. The free event runs from 10am to 2:30pm, and is being held at the New LATC.
While the streetcar line is intended to connect multiple points Downtown, the program for Thursday’s workshop makes clear that the focus is on Broadway. Topics include “How a Broadway streetcar will integrate with a new Broadway streetscape design.” Downtown streetcar planning has been going on for years, but over the past year has been organizationally co-opted into the Bringing Back Broadway movement.

I am a proponent of these modern style streetcars, not replica cars that look like the old Red Cars.
The old looking cars would jibe with the 1920’s buildings nicely, but, the new low floor cars are much more comfortable and easier to access.
I agree, modern cars. I think the mix of modern car historic buildings would be interesting. I hope this happens.
