The Nickel Diner opened just under two weeks ago to rave reviews. From day one it’s been the spot, where one could pretty much bank on finding a familiar neighborhood face.

While it’s still serving just breakfast and lunch while getting the kitchen up to speed, this Thursday the Nickel adds dinner hours to feed a hungry Downtown Art Walk crowd.

The restaurant will close in the afternoon as normal, but will reopen at 6pm to serve those wandering the neighborhood and checking out the monthly gallery scene. The menu will be slightly limited from the Nickel’s normal fare, offering just sandwiches and burgers. The plan is to stay open until roughly 11pm, but surely the flow of the crowd will have final say there.

The Nickel Diner/ 524 S. Main St / Open Tuesday - Sunday / 7:30am to 3:30pm

YAY, dinner! We’ve been in twice for breakfast and are very pleased with the food and service. Just a quick suggestion though. Last weekend the potatoes were rubbery and seemed as though they were cooked in advance and then left warming on the grill until served.

See ya for dinner soon!

I have liked everything I’ve had there until I had the greasy thin potatoes this morning at breakfast. Yuck. Never again (for the potatoes, that is).
