Nighttime DASH Supported, But Not Yet Funded

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The effort to bring nighttime DASH service to Downtown during the holidays continues. LADOT made a presentation on the topic today before a very small Transportation committee, consisting of just its chair, Councilwoman Wendy Greuel.
Greuel urged the department and other council offices to find the $30,000 needed to run a pair of DASH services in conjunction with the recently funded Red Line extension.
In two weeks, Friday and Saturday night service on the Red Line will be extended until 3am in a pilot project that will run through the end of the year. Over $50,000 was raised from private donors to fund the two extra hours per night.
The proposed nighttime DASH service would run on the same nights, starting at 6:30pm and going until 3am. Two routes have been proposed, both using 7th/Metro as a terminus and transfer point. One route would connect L.A. Live and the Music Center, while the other would offer service to the Historic Core.
At today's committee meeting, DOT indicated that there was still time for money to be pulled together to make the DASH happen. Like with the Red Line, most of the funds would need to come from the private sector. Work on that process continues.

Would a .25 increase to our current DASH fare help? C'mon it's $30K, I'm sure this could be easily funded by just a little increase to the DASH fare.
