South Park's Hygge Looking to Sell Off Space, Keep Bakery

Danish bakery and restaurant Hygge, slated for this spot in the corner of South Park's Luma, has put much of its space up for sale.

Announced almost a year ago, Danish bakery and restaurant Hygge has yet to move beyond framed walls at the corner of 11th and Hope. Now it appears owner Ray Lee has altered his plans for the space, listing 4,000 of his 6,000 square feet up for sale on Loopnet.

The listing offers up three of the four retail parcels that make up the Hygge space. Located on the ground-floor of the South Group's Luma condo building, the space offers ceiling heights of 12 to 24 feet.

The Loopnet listing claims that the bakery will be proceeding in the remaining space, located on the Hope street side of the building. While it claims a mid-late February opening, a lack of construction progress on-site would make that seem optimistic.

The 4,112 square foot space is listed for $4.2 million. Dues for the commercial condo space are not listed.

Someone needs to show this guy how packed the LA Live restos can get. Ah well. It's his money, not mine. Hopefully that space won't remain empty too much longer.

No doubt. I tried to go to yardhouse and it was an hour and a half wait. If I could cook, I'd open a restaurant there.

Any updates on BottleRock or Rivera (is that one open already)? They need to advertise at LA Live to draw the overflow crowd.

Rivera is advertising a limited opening on the 16th (Friday). They were outside wiring up the signage and painting stuff today.

BottleRock is still in construction. I'd suspect they'll get done next month.

It looks like Hygge is finally open, based on their web site: http://www.hyggebakery.com/ Pity they're not going to be a full "cozy" restaurant as was originally planned, but a fresh bakery (w/ coffee, apparently) is still nice to have locally. Has anyone tried them yet? It would be good to have a review.
