Missy Higgins / Justin Nozuka

Tickets to see Missy Higgins and Justin Nozuka at the historic Orpheum Theatre on March 21 go on sale this Saturday, but Goldenvoice is offering blogdowntown readers a chance to grab seats early. This is Australia week in Los Angeles (you didn't know, did you?), and the billing features a pair of Aussies in Higgins and opener Lenka.

Over the last two years, the 1926 Orpheum has become quite the concert spot. The ornate, 2,000 seat venue received a $3.5 million renovation in 2001. Today it hosts a steady stream of shows and events, including 35 concerts in 2008.

Australian-born singer-songwriter Missy Higgins' American popularity has risen rapidly over the last few years. In February, the LA Times wrote that she "has that radiance performers exude just as their stars begin to ascend."

Nineteen-year-old Justin Nozuka describes his style as blending elements of neo-soul, folk, old-time blues and pop. He and Higgins are co-headlining the twenty-four stop tour, which kicks off February 19 in Houston.

Opening for the pair is Lenka, the night's second performer from down under. Now living in Los Angeles, the singer started her career as an actress before transferring to music.

We've got two pairs of tickets to give away for the March 21 show. To win, leave a comment letting us know who your favorite Australian is and why. We'll close off comments at 8pm on Friday and alert winners via email or Facebook.

Update (Saturday): Thanks for entering. Our winners are Paul Cusack and Ariana, each of whom will be getting a pair of tickets to the March 21 show. If you didn't win, tickets are on-sale now.

My favorite Australian person is the singer-songwriter Sia. She is an amazing musician because she breaks borders in the indie music industry, she's eccentric, and due to that, her creativity doesn't lack conviction, it exudes it. it takes the mind to funnier places, to think about funny things but to realize just how sadistic and how serious we need to take things. When she jokes, its sometimes dark humor so it just adds on to her dimensions of personality. (:

My favourite austrailian person would have to be the amazingly talented artist named Anthony Lister. By doing his own thing it shows the amount of strenght and belief he has within himself as an artist. Thats such a powerful thing in my opinion and it definitly contributes to the inspiration I get form his creations.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd for signing the Kyoto Protocol.

There has always been one artist, Australian or not, who has always stood out amongst the sea of faces of musicians. This man, however just happens to be a Australian. Keith Urban has opened my eyes and I'm sure many others to a different genre of music, we would have otherwise been very ignorant of. He is a singer, songwriter, musician, recovering alcoholic, father, and husband. To see some go through so many personal struggles and not allow the quicksand to envelop him, amazes and inspires me. His music massages the soul and listeners can't help but smile at the honesty and love heard in his music.
