You Already Know What Sunday Is...

We here at blogdowntown have full confidence that our readers are perfectly attuned to their calendars, so we wouldn't think of reminding you that Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 10. We're sure that each of you have ordered flowers, sent cards, made the appropriate reservations or have Music Center tickets waiting at Will-Call.

If one were to be looking for plans, however, there are sources ready to help. Downtown Center BID has an extensive menu of Top 10 Mother's Day Activities, and the Downtown News has some useful suggestions.

Perhaps, though, your plans are better than the ones they list. Care to share? Those of you whose mothers are elsewhere, what would your plans be if mom were in town?

We can all boost our local L.A. economy by buying Mother's Day (and other occasion) flowers from real, local florists, or by visiting the L.A. Flower Market on Wall Street personally from 8 to 10 a.m., Mon.-Sat. Local florists are struggling these days, thanks to imports, supermarket flowers and the economy. Economists predict up to 1,000 retail florists will close their doors this year. Skip the Internet flowers this time; forget 1-800 -- those guys have already made their millions. Let's support our local florists and economy. For Mother's Day and year 'round.

Agree with Peggi. LA Flower Market is a great place for fresh flowers. Check out www.fashiondistrict.org & click on Flower Market for info. There is a great selection of flowers & there are places to buy vases too. So much more from the heart to do it yourself...
