A corporate team competes in the muster games at the 2008 Hope for Firefighters event.

This Thursday, June 4, Hope for Firefighters returns to Bunker Hill for an afternoon of food and sport in support of a good cause. The event, now in its twelfth year, runs from 11:30am to 2:30pm and features firefighter muster games and meals prepared by twenty-five fire stations from across the city.

The event will be cooler than past years, with Thursday's high temperature only slated to reach 66 degrees. A little chill won't stop the teams scheduled to compete in the muster games, which require entrants to perform firefighter tasks including an old-fashioned hose pull and bucket brigade.

The event is a benefit for the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association’s Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firemen’s Fund.

Hope for Firefighters takes place on Hope street, between Hope Place and 3rd.
