Win Tickets to See Terence Blanchard at the GRAMMY Museum
Shannon Brinkman
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The GRAMMY Museum hosts "An Evening With Terence Blanchard" on Thursday, August 27, offering an on-stage interview, audience Q&A and a performance by the GRAMMY-winning trumpet player and film composer. Tickets are on-sale via Ticketmaster, but we have a few pairs for blogdowntown readers interested in checking out the show.
Blanchard's latest CD, Choices, was released last week on Concord Records. The album was recorded and produced in Blanchard's hometown of New Orleans, and addresses the choices people make in life – both as a society and on a personal level.
The event takes place in the GRAMMY Museum's Sound Stage, an intimate 200 seat venue.
We've got two pairs of tickets for blogdowntown readers who would like to attend "An Evening With Terence Blanchard." To win, just leave a comment telling us why you would like to go to the show. Make sure to include contact info (either email or by way of Facebook Connect). Contest closes on Wednesday at noon.

The diversity of the music that Terence weaves together ALONE would just make it a great show and full of excitement! I enjoy his film work very much and I'd be delighted to see him and even hear him play!

We just moved here (less than a week ago) from the Midwest but are orginially from the South & have a soft spotin our hearts for New Orleans. Getting to hear Blanchard would be the perfect beginning to our new life in LA.

I would LOVE to be awarded tickets to see Terence Blanchard for the August 27 performance and interview at the Grammy Museum. Why? Because I love and appreciate jazz and Terence is the epitome of a modern jazz great! His roots are royal, coming from New Orleans. He is firmly grounded in the tradition of our great jazz forefathers having played with some of the finest. Even more, Terence continues to pave his own way with an impressive number of movie soundtracks and a vast body of work as both a leader and sideman. He really bridges the old with the new and keeps the jazz flames alive. I live in downtown LA but have NEVER visited the Grammy Museum. I would be ecstatic if I was able to see one of my jazz heroes and participate in the audience Q&A. So PLEASE award me tickets, it would surely be an unforgettable evening and I will be forever grateful! Thanks, Janie

Wow. What a great idea. I'd LOVE to see him live...and I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I did not even know that we HAD a new Grammy Museum downtown!! I'd love to get to see it, no matter your choice of ticket winner. Great blog. Thanks, Dan

I just started taking trumpet lessons 2 months ago. My teacher's been trying to get me to attend live performances to hear what I should be aspiring to, but work's always been in the way. I would certainly make an exception to hear a virtuoso.

wow, for months and months in 1992, I immersed myself in his score for Malcolm X. Brings back a lot of memories. He's a great innovator and a wonderful educator. I'd love the chance to see him in person.

Here's why I would love to attend: I love jazz, I love downtown LA, and I'd like to impress my new GF and show her a really good time on the town. She loves Blanchard and I think this might really go a long way for us.... I'm talking a long life of love and happiness for us, not to mention kids, grandkids, little league.....all that. If I take her to this, it will up the chances of marriage by a factor of at least 0.046[cosine]/42x. Thanks! (Seriously though, I would love to take her.)

Wow! I have a little story to tell: My father, who's gone now, took me to hear my first jazz concert when I was younger and it was Terence Blanchard. That night, thanks to them both, I fell madly in love with jazz music. I was blown away by his sound, his artistry and his music. Seeing Terence again would bring back so many warm memories of me together with my dad.
