DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — L.A. County Fire's two CL-415 Super Scooper airplanes took a pair of laps around Downtown at mid-day today, accompanied by at least one fire chopper. The aircraft have been part of a fleet of vehicles doing hard duty on the massive Station Fire.
The pair may have been doing prep passes for a Saturday memorial service at Dodger Stadium in honor of Ted Hall and Arnie Quinones, the two L.A. County Firefighters who died in the fight.
The service will take place at 10am on Saturday.
The Station Fire has burned over 160,000 acres, and as of today is 71 percent contained. The fire fight is estimated to have cost $78 million dollars, with 3,650 firefighters still at work on the blaze.
