DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Today is Monday, October 26, and while no items on the Council agenda may match Friday's three hour signage debate, there is still important stuff going on. High Speed Rail and the River get a discussion, as does smoking in outdoor eating areas.
MONDAY: Three committees meet: Public Safety, Budget and Finance and the Ad Hoc River Committee.
At Budget and Finance, CF 09-1584 is a report by the Controller's office on internal controls at El Pueblo. The report is from June, and no updated documents are attached to the Council file.
The Ad Hoc River committee will discuss CF 09-0252, station and alignment options for the High Speed Rail project.
TUESDAY: Council is in session, and joined by four committees.
At Arts, Parks, Health and Aging is CF 08-1544, a proposal to ban smoking in outdoor dining areas. When the item last came up, it was tabled to get more input from the restaurant industry.
At Council, item 15 is CF 09-1714, the City's potential contract with Google for email services.
WEDNESDAY: Council meets, as do two committees.
At Housing and Community Development, CF 09-2540 is a Perry motion that looks to be aimed at getting the city to consider programs that would use hotel bed tax reinvestment as incentive for hotels to make upgrades.
At Transportation, CF 08-0531-S1 is an LADOT report on restarting the taxi franchise update. Cabbies circled City Hall protesting the lack of public process in August, and Council stepped in to have the consultant choice remade.
