The new 14-screen Regal Cinemas L.A. Live opened last Tuesday evening.

Downtown's new Regal Cinemas is offering another free movie night on Thursday, this time targeted at USC students. The event is part of the venue's week-long transition away from wall-to-wall Michael Jackson screenings and toward normal operation.

The lineup is the same as Monday's free night for Downtowners: Funny People (7:00), 500 Days of Summer (7:10), District 9 (7:20), Star Trek (7:30), Up (7:40), G.I. Joe (7:50), The Proposal (8:00).

Soda and popcorn will again be $1, with the proceeds this time benefiting City of Hope.

Tickets are supposed to be available from the Regal box office starting at 5pm on Thursday, though that policy wasn't particularly enforced on Monday.

Regular programming inside the cineplex will begin on Friday evening.

Thursday night also marks the kickoff for a new shuttle that will run between USC and L.A. Live. The line, to be operated by USC's transportation department and funded by AEG, will run between The Lab and 901 Bar at USC and the Regal. It will pick up every half hour between 6pm and 2am on Friday, 2pm to 2am on Saturdays and 4pm to 10pm on Sundays.

Sign me up to do the reverse shuttle down to the 9-0. Hell, I'd even pay for it as long as they don't limit it to current students only.

Are they once again not checking IDs? (this time for USC students IDs) I would enjoy another free movie.

I'm a fairly young-looking 54, but I don't think I could pass as a USC student.

Not only is FIDM also downtown, but so is LATTC. It would be good to pitch to them/us as well, even if it's not as numerically or economically large a potential audience.

As stated in Eric's article above, the free USC movie night will essentially be the same as this past Monday night's free screenings. The nice thing for USC students is that a free shuttle will transport them from USC to L.A. Live and back beginning @ 6pm. To kick off the event, the Lab Gastropub near USC (where the shuttle picks up and drops off USC students) will have honorary quests give speeches and will provide music and entertainment prior to the first shuttle arrival. Below is a list of special guests:

WHO: Pete Carroll, USC Football Coach Kevin O’Neill, USC Men’s Basketball Coach Michael Cooper, USC Women’s Basketball Coach Holden Slusher, USC Student Body President USC Marching Band & Song Girls Laker Girls USC Students.

WHEN: Thursday, November 5th at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Lab Gastropub

3500 Figueroa Blvd. Los Angeles, Ca 90007
Ceremony will take place on the corner of Figueroa Blvd & McCarthy Way

Pete Carroll will actually be riding the first shuttle to L.A. Live with students so that is going to be exciting for everyone riding the shuttle and should provide incentive for big USC sports fans to show up.

So come on out and see everything L.A. Live and Regal has to offer. We look forward to seeing all of you at the movies and if any of you have questions/concerns feel free to email me and I will respond to you as quickly as possible. Thanks!

I wish they would check IDs because I live across the street from LA live and missed out on Monday because the tickets were "sold out." I'm also a USC student and I'm getting there at 5PM tonight...please non-USC students, at least wait for us to get some first!!!
