Welcome!

blogdowntown delivers news and observations from a pedestrian perspective, with a focus on trying to help those who live and work here make sense of all that’s going on in Downtown Los Angeles. What began in 2005 as a naive exploration of a new neighborhood has evolved into a forum that’s been documenting Downtown’s growth and the development of a community.

A Project of verbdowntown

In September, we took a huge step forward by creating verbdowntown, a non-profit project that will act as blogdowntown's parent organization. We’re starting the process of going out and looking for supporters who share our mission of helping those who live and work Downtown become more informed citizens of this community.

You're going corporate?

Just because we have a mission statement now, that doesn’t mean we’re going to start wearing suits. We’re going to keep writing about all the things that we think make Downtown such a fascinating place.

What’s next?

We’ve got quite the backlog of ideas for how to make blogdowntown better. Now we get to finally turn some of them into reality.

Navigating the Site

No, we're not doubting your intelligence or your ability to figure things out on your own, but sometimes it can be nice to get a few pointers.

The Home Page tries to present an overview of what's going on around the site. The top stories are stories that we've marked as features — ones we want to make particularly sure you see and read.

Latest Content provides a chronological view of the newest content on the site.

Sections like Everyday Living, Growth & Development and Arts & Culture break down our content by subject area.

To find old stuff you might check out the Archives or the On This Date view, which gives the ability to put in a date and see what's been posted to the site in different years.

And finally, if remembering to come back here is too much work, you might check out the options for how you can Subscribe and get blogdowntown delivered to your email box or RSS reader.
